Midweek Football Fixtures for 12/13 September

The midweek football fixtures have arrived for Wednesday and Thursday the 12 and 13 September.  At this stage of the football season it is difficult yet to identify the pick of the matches, but based on their opening results and their finishes last season, it is probably Marlboro Black v Pentwyn Dynamo.

For their second game in the A Division, newly promoted Pentyrch travel to Hailey Park to play Whitchurch and will no doubt be hoping the grass has been cut.  Both teams lost their opening fixtures and will be looking to establish their first win. A difficult one to call as both of these football teams look evenly matched.

The other newly promoted football team, Butetown, travel to Fairwater.  While Butetown suffered a heavy 8-1 loss in their first game and Fairwater had an 8-1 win this is likely to be a tough match.  Butetown have good players and if they begin to adapt to the pace and quality of the A Division they have the potential to do well.  Having got off to a 'flyer', Fairwater will be full of confidence, but they will need to be on their guard.

Marlboro Black and Pentwyn Dynamo looks an interesting match. Both teams won by two goal margins on Saturday and this game could be a real marker as to how they will get on this season.

On paper it looks as though Rhiwbina Black should have too much for their club colleagues Rhiwbina White.  Likewise last season's U15s football champions, St Albans, should prove too powerful for Llanedeyrn.  But what both Rhiwbina Black and St Albans know is that other teams raise their game when they play them, but they know full well that none of their matches can be taken for granted.

In the B Division, the four home teams Canton, Grangetown, Marlboro Red and Ty Celyn will look to add further wins to their victories on the opening Saturday, while Rumney, Llanedeyrn, Danescourt and Caerau Ely will be looking to get their first points on the board.
