Cardiff & District U15s Football Fixtures, 5 January 2013

GAMES POSTPONED 

 

The football fixtures for the first Saturday of the new year are out and there are some key matches in prospect.  Fingers crossed for the weather this Saturday.  The forecast for the next few days is cloudy but dry.  Hopefully, the pitches will have had chance to dry out by the time of kick-off on Saturday.

In the A Division, first-place St Albans are home to Rhiwbina Black who are currently in second spot and will be keen to close the gap.  Butetown are home to Whitchurch and will be keen for a win to maintain third spot.  Marlboro Black are at home to Llanedeyrn and will be keen to sustain their momentum in the league.   The Pentyrch v Fairwater match should be a close affair, as both teams have shown they are capable of playing excellent football.

 

In the tightly contested B Division the game between Canton Rangers and Marlboro Red will show whether the Reds have a realistic chance of challenging for the top spots.  Along with top-of-the-table Caerau Ely, the Reds have yet to lose a game, but have played a lot fewer games.  The other top teams - Caerau Ely, Ty Celyn Black and Grangetown - all seem to have winnable games, but so tight is this division, that nothing can be taken for granted.

In the C Division, second-place Grangetown Athletic, who along with A Division St Albans are the only teams to have achieved maximum points from their games this season, face a tough away game to Gwaelod Rangers.  Gwaelod have been having a very successful season and will also be keen to maintain an unbeaten league record.  Another close game is likely when top-of-the-table Dragons meet third place Marlboro White.
