Some fascinating football games across the division this weekend. As predicted, the A Division game between Marlboro Black and Pentwyn game was too close to call. A late equaliser secured a draw for Marlboro in what was an evenly balanced game. Rhiwbina achieved an emphatic 9-1 win to see off any hopes Butetown had of challenging for one of the top spots. Last season's other promoted team, Pentyrch, had an excellent 3-1 win over Fairwater. Pentyrch had the better of the first half and went 2-0 up before Fairwater pulled back a goal before half-time. Fairwater came back strongly in the second half, but the Pentyrch defence held out. With fifteen minutes to go, Pentyrch's third goal came from a strong run and blistering shot from the Pentyrch centre forward to make the game safe. With games in hand Pentyrch could now be among a number of teams - Pentwyn, Butetown, Marlboro Black, Fairwater - all more than capable of challenging for third spot. League leaders St Albans were made to scrap for every inch of a muddy Hailey Park ground by a dogged Whitchurch defence. The Buns took the game 2-0, but with Whitchurch having eleven players behind the ball for large periods of the game, the match scored low on entertainment.

In the B Division, Grangetown had a comfortable 5-0 win over Marlboro Red, to move to the top of the table. Ty Celyn start to make their games in hand count with a 2-0 win over Llanedeyrn. Urdd continue their run of good form with a 5-2 victory over Rumney. It was Rumney who started the stronger of the two teams,getting a goal after seven minutes. Urdd then hit back with five goals within a seventeen minute purple patch, 2 from Elis Jones, 2 from Rhodri Morgan and 1 from Charley Smith.

In the C Division, the top four teams all secured comfortable victories in their games. Dragons posted yet another impressive victory and on their current run of form look unbeatable. Not to be outdone, unbeaten Grangetown Athletic secured a 6-3 win over Cardiff Hibernian, the U15s newest team. Hibs have progressed steadily since joining the league and shown they are a match for most teams in the division. A big factor in Grangetown's win was a man-of-the-match performance from Jamie Dare, who sat in front of his back three, constantly breaking up the Hibs attack. While Dragons and Grangetown Athletic have opened up a significant gap, Gwaelod Rangers have a number of games in hand and would seem to be more than capable of catching up. The battle for the top in the C Division looks as though it will go down to the wire.
