Cardiff & District U15s football results, 10 November 2012

The big game of the day was St Albans v Fairwater. While St Albans ran out 4-2 winners, it was a tight competitive game. St Albans had the majority of possession but Fairwater’s well executed tactics and organisation kept them in touch right through to the end of the game.

The Pentwyn v Marlboro Black match was a a game both teams were keen to win and secure their reputation as one the division’s top teams. Pentwyn had an excellent first half scoring three goals. In the second half the Marlboro pressure was relentless but Pentwyn closed the game out to win 3-0.  Rhiwbina kept up their pressure on the league leaders with a 5-2 win over Maindy.

The Whitchurch v Pentyrch match was a game that both teams needed to win to settle their season. It was an even game for first 20 minutes before Pentyrch scored two quick goals to take control. A tactical change from Whitchurch allowed them to claw one back just before the break . The second half was a tight, competitive affair, with both sides going close, but Pentyrch did just enough to see the game out and take all three points.

In the B Division, the big game of the day was the match between second place Grangetown and third place Caerau Ely match. At 5 - 5, it was certainly a big scoreline, with nothing to separate the teams by the end of the game.

In the Marlboro Red v Urdd game, Marlboro started brightly and opened the scoring on 10 minutes. Urdd settled and struck back after 14 minutes through Gwynfor Roderick. For the rest of the first half there was little to choose between the two teams.  Marlboro made some decisive substitutions and held the upper hand for most of the second half. Urdd battled hard but were unable to come back from a 60th minute goal from Marlboro that gave them a 2-1 victory.

In the C Division, the Grangetown Athletic game against Marlboro White would decide who would claim second place. Grangetown edged the game 6-5.
