U15s Football Results & League Tables, 2 March 2013

As we reach the business end of the season, there are a few more lack lustre performances and draws as tiredness and a defensive mentality takes hold.   In the A Division, Pentwyn missed an opportunity to close the gap on Rhiwbina Black.  Whitchurch keep to their defensive first strategy in holding Marlboro Black to a 0-0 draw.  Butetown and Fairwater also shared the honours with a 1-1 draw.  And with many of their players playing their fourth game in eight days, St Albans had to work had for their 4-1 victory over Maindy.  The one team that really sparkled were Pentyrch, who achieved an 8-0 win and seem to be peaking at the right time and now look like real contenders for third place and could go all the way in the cup.

In the B Division Danescourt achieved an excellent result in holding the league leaders Caerau Ely to a 2-2 draw.  Stretching their unbeaten run to four games with a 2-2 draw against Marlboro Red, Urdd make steady progress up the table.  With a 5-0 win at Marshfield Grangetown now take over at the top of the Division.

The most anticipated match of the day across all three divisions was the Dragons v Gwaelod Rangers fixture.  It was the high-flying Dragons who game out comfortably on top, adding to  their impressive goal tally for the season with a 7-0 win.  But with a 5-3 victory over Lisvane Orange unbeaten Grangetown Athletic maintain the pressure on the Dragons.  And next weekend, the Dragons and Grangetown Athletic, come up against each other in a match that will have a large bearing on the outcome of this division.
